Concrete slab lifting

Concrete slab lifting and leveling with PU foam injection

Slab lifting is a technique used to raise and support sunken or unstable concrete slabs. The process is similar to void filling. By drilling holes and injecting a polyurethane foam, the concrete slab can be lifted back to its original position. It’s of utmost importance that the PU foam injection is done incrementally. Concrete slab lifting with PU foam injection is a very cost-effective and efficient method to level or repair concrete slabs.

Our R&D department can develop a broader range of GEORESINS, going from a free rise density of 35 to 350 kg/m³. Please contact us for more information and/or for special requests.

Advantages of slab lifting and leveling with PU foam injection

Lightweight: Polyurethane foam is much lighter than traditional slab jacking materials such as mud or concrete. The underlying soil is thus under much less pressure, which in turn reduces the risk of soil settlement and future slab sinking.

Fast curing time: Polyurethane foam usually cures within 15 minutes. This quick curing time allows the lifted slab to be used immediately after the lifting process is completed, in contrast to traditional methods such as slab jacking or polyjacking which can take up to a few days to cure.

Minimal disruption: The equipment used to inject the polyurethane foam in concrete structures is relatively small and can be easily transported to the job site. This ensures a less invasive process compared to traditional methods and causes minimal disruption to the surrounding area.

Better waterproofing: Polyurethane foam is hydrophobic and as such perfectly suited to seal cracks and gaps. It reduces the risk of water penetration into the subbase material and helps to prevent erosion and other issues that can cause the slab to sink or shift.

Improved aesthetics: Polyurethane foam is injected through small, easily patchable holes drilled in the slab. Once the lifting process is complete the final result is neater and more aesthetically pleasing than with traditional methods, where larger holes are required.

Using polyurethane foam for concrete slab lifting and levelling offers numerous advantages over more traditional methods such as slab jacking or polyjacking. It is faster, less invasive and produces better results that can last for years.
