Watersealing and soil rehabilitation

ADCOS worked together with its partner on the renovation and protection of a sulfur and coke pit at a refinery in Antwerp, Belgium.

ADCOS’ partner supervised the hydrojetting of the pits’ surface, identified existing cracks, performed concrete repair and injected cracks with an acrylic resin mix. To ensure high-level quality control, they finished off with the application of a polyurea coating.

The soil condition around the pit was quite unknown. Therefore, ADCOS reommended to stabilize the soil again with PURINJECT 1C SOIL. This 1-component, water-reactive PU resin foams slightly and mixes with the soil, while providing stability and waterproofing at the same time. However, during the execution high flows of water were observed. Consequently, ADCOS’ partner conducted an additional injection with a 1-component, flexible, water-reactive PU resin, PURINJECT 1C FLEX.

ADCOS assisted not only in material selection, but also in providing a full method statement after on-site analysis, as well as laboratory testing.
