Waterproofing tunnel roof

Blankenburg connection, Maasdelta tunnel, The Netherlands

ADCOS supported its long-term partner, who is 24/7 available to assist DEME group during the further construction works of the Maasdelta tunnel.

The tunnel contractor was under time restrictions to waterproof the tunnel roof of the South Entrance of the Blankenburg connection, as the works to pour a 14 m high sand layer on top needed to proceed. Not only time, but also the climate conditions (rain and cold temperatures) were major limitations. In only 2 weeks, they made the 7,000 m² tunnel roof waterproof with UREASPRAY 400.

Operations could continue on-site by installing heated tents to ensure the right application conditions. An adequate surface is mandatory for the application of the first layer of primer, after which the polyurea coating is sprayed upon.

ADCOS’ partner commented the following about the collaboration: “It was important to act fast for the further continuation. Our supplier ADCOS has supported us enormously with a very fast delivery and assistance, as well as on-site quality control”.
